The where and the why
Where to Stay
Walkability, proximity to venues, nightlife, quiet, or price — nine areas, so you can pick what actually matters to you.

Downtown / Pearl Street
Walking distance to Pearl Street, CU, and most of the confirmed festival venues. The most walkable, liveliest, and likely to sell out first now that dates are official.

University Hill / CU
Right next to campus. Younger, louder, cheaper eats, and close to Macky Auditorium — a confirmed Sundance venue. A short walk or bus ride to Pearl Street.

29th Street / Central Boulder
Boulder's open-air retail hub, with chain hotels nearby and easy bus access into downtown. More parking, less charm, still an easy commute in.

North Boulder
Quieter, more residential, still inside city limits. A short drive or bus ride from downtown, without the downtown price premium.

South Boulder
Closest to the foothills and trailheads. A quiet base if you want mornings on a trail before an afternoon screening.

Louisville
A walkable historic Main Street about 15 minutes from Boulder, with its own strong restaurant scene. A popular overflow choice when Boulder books up.

Lafayette
Louisville's neighbor, a similarly easy drive to Boulder, generally with more availability and lower rates.

Longmont
About 20 minutes out via the Diagonal Highway. A real downtown with its own brewery and restaurant scene, and noticeably more affordable lodging.

Denver
35–45 minutes from Boulder depending on traffic, with far more hotel inventory and the airport already close by. Worth it if everything closer is booked.
